I’ve had people ask for my query letter that drew the interest of both my agent and editor. Here it is:
Dear Ms. Records:
My completed manuscript, URBAN BITE, is a 70,000 word sexy, dark paranormal.
With the leaders of two feuding vampire races desperate to possess her and her daughter’s psychic gifts, latent empath Cara Paulsen fights for her child by accepting vampire leader Talen Kayrs’ offer of being his mate. His idea of a wedding night is more like a sexual taming–dominant, scorching hot and…perfect.
With shape-shifting allies, they fight against an evil vampire race that has discovered the ability to venture into sunlight–with all that interesting prey. Only by trusting each other will they be able to protect Cara’s daughter and the rest of humanity.
An active member of several on-line RWA chapters, I have completed five manuscripts and am now actively pursuing publication. I would be happy to email you a synopsis and/or the entire manuscript. I can be reached via email: XXXX or at (XXX) XXX-XXX. I look forward to the possibility of working together in the near future. Thank you so much for your time.
Note that the word count was too low…when she made the offer she said the book needed to be 75,000 words, though she’d be ecstatic at 80,000. So, I edited, added and layered and ended up at 88,000 words. Also, the original name was URBAN BITE…which was changed to FATED.
